PALISADES ELEMENTARY

At Palisades Elementary, we believe every child has the potential to make waves. Through the combined efforts of our dedicated staff, supportive families, and engaged community, our students grow into caring, confident individuals who are prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.

 

Located in the heart of our beautiful coastal community, Palisades Elementary is one of 36 elementary schools in the Capistrano Unified School District and proudly serves more than 400 students. Our diverse student body reflects a wide range of cultures, languages, and life experiences that enrich learning both inside and outside the classroom. Students develop lasting friendships across cultures while learning the values of kindness, respect, and empathy. Our inclusive learning environment, including our Autism program, provides meaningful opportunities for students to develop compassion, celebrate differences, and build a true sense of belonging.

At Palisades, learning is engaging, collaborative, and focused on the success of every student. Instruction is fully aligned with California's academic standards and is built around an integrated curriculum that emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving.

 

Our teachers are dedicated to providing Great First Instruction and work together regularly in professional learning teams to analyze student data, share best practices, and plan instruction that meets the needs of every learner. We believe every student deserves to be known by name and by need. Through targeted intervention, enrichment opportunities, thoughtful modifications, and meaningful challenges, we ensure all students receive the support they need to reach their full potential.

 

Walk through our classrooms and you'll see students actively engaged in learning through small group instruction, collaborative discussions, hands-on experiences, and meaningful problem solving. Our balanced literacy approach develops strong readers and writers by focusing on both foundational decoding skills and deep comprehension. In mathematics, teachers help students think critically, explain their reasoning, and build lasting conceptual understanding. These research-based instructional practices empower students to become confident, independent thinkers.

 

Preparing students for tomorrow means providing opportunities to create, explore, and innovate today.

 

Our fully equipped STEAM Lab gives every student weekly opportunities to solve authentic challenges through hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Students design, build, code, test, and create while learning engineering concepts, computational thinking, robotics, and digital design. These engaging experiences foster creativity, collaboration, resilience, and innovation.

 

As a proud 21st Century Learning Collaborative, technology is thoughtfully integrated into every aspect of instruction. Students in grades 3 through 5 are provided with individual Chromebooks for daily learning, while students in kindergarten through second grade have access to classroom Chromebook carts and iPads for intervention, enrichment, and personalized learning. Technology is used as a tool to enhance creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking across every subject area. 

Academic success is only one part of the Palisades experience. We believe developing strong character is just as important as developing strong academic skills.

We are a  Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) platinum school, that thrives on creating a positive school culture where students learn responsibility, respect, kindness, perseverance, and integrity. These values are woven into daily classroom experiences and help students develop the social and emotional skills needed to become thoughtful leaders and responsible citizens.

Our principal, teachers, support staff, families, PTA, and Education Foundation work together as partners to create exceptional learning experiences for every child. Parent and community involvement are at the heart of who we are. Throughout the year, our PTA organizes memorable events that bring families together, while our Education Foundation helps provide outstanding enrichment opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.

Whether volunteering in classrooms, supporting school events, or participating in community activities throughout San Clemente and Capo Beach, our families play an active role in creating the welcoming, connected culture that defines Palisades.
