Steps to Obtain a Bike Safety Permit.
Step 1: Carefully Read the following:
The District is committed to ensuring the safety of students who commute to and from school on e-bicycles and bicycles.
- In a collaborative effort between Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD), the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and Providence Mission Hospital, we are pleased to introduce an E-Bicycle/Bicycle Safety course for CUSD students.
- There are new requirements that include a dedicated safety course, safety video, safety expectations, and attestation for families and students who commute to school using e-bikes or bicycles.
- Riding your Bike, E-bike or any form of student generated transportation to school is not a RIGHT, it is a PRIVILEGE.
- As safety is our priority, students must both consistently exhibit bike safety and responsible behaviors and decision making while at school.
- Note: A student’s Bike Permit can be revoked for all or part of the school year for either unsafe bike behaviors.
- Students who lose their bike permit will lose bike riding privileges for a minimum of two weeks with the possibility of losing it for the remainder of the quarter or entire school year.
